Fire Chief Jonathan P. Kramer
East Niceville Fire District

I am honored to serve as the Fire Chief of the East Niceville Fire District, a position I have proudly held since May 13, 2025. My journey in the fire service began with a calling I felt early in life — a commitment to protect others and to lead by example.
I graduated from the Pensacola Fire Academy (PJC) on May 28, 1998 and began my career shortly after with the North Okaloosa Fire District on July 1, 1998. There, I gained valuable experience serving as a firefighter, engineer, and officer. After several years, I decided to pursue further opportunities and education, which led me to join the Destin Fire Control District on February 1, 2001.
My time in Destin was deeply meaningful. I served in many roles, from firefighter to driver and officer, and spent countless hours responding to calls that shaped my skills and leadership. I had the privilege of driving my favorite truck, Ladder 9, and also served as a lifeguard and boat operator for the district. During this time, I was honored to represent my peers as Union President. These years not only gave me a wealth of fireground experience, but also lifelong friendships and invaluable lessons from strong leaders who helped prepare me for my future.
In 2010, I joined the East Niceville Fire District — a department that began as a volunteer organization in 1976 (the same year I was born) and transitioned into a paid department in 2005. I came with the purpose of applying the knowledge and experience I had gained to help shape our growing department. I started as an engineer, was promoted to captain a year later, and advanced to Deputy Chief in 2021. Fifteen years after joining ENFD, I achieved the lifelong goal I had set early in my career — to become Fire Chief.
As Chief, my vision is to lead East Niceville into the future with professionalism, dedication, and community service at the forefront. I do so proudly alongside my wife, Kara Kramer, and with the support of our three children, who have grown into wonderful adults, and our first grandchild, who brings us endless joy. Outside of the firehouse, I enjoy camping and traveling with family and friends — hobbies that recharge me and remind me of the importance of balance and connection.
It is a privilege to serve this community and to lead the outstanding men and women of the East Niceville Fire District. Together, we will continue building on our proud history while striving toward new achievements in service, safety, and excellence.
